Turtle in our yard

August 2013:
Another beginning for our garden here at Jackson-Via. We now have full time support ad would love to have parent volunteers to assist. Think about all that yummy green food and call the main office to get in tougc with our garden!

September 24, 2012:
The fall crops have been lovingly planted. Ms. Reynolds’ second grade class is taking care of the seedlings which sprouted in only 3 days!
They have been watered and talked to and are on their way to becoming fall snacks or soups.

We have:

D’avignon radish-
heirloom radish-
wild garden lettuce-
arugula-
simpson lettuce-
buttercrunch lettuce-
purple top turnip-
red Russian kale-
sessantina broccoli-
Tokyo cross hybrid turnip-

MMMMM! Now I can look forward to winter!

Last year dozens of volunteers planted a “Meadow Garden” with over 75 new plants to feed and attract wildlife. Ms. Franklin’s third grade class adopted the meadow for the fall to water and to watch.
They made art about a specific plant to inform our other classes about the plants in our new garden.

This area is for scientific observation as it is a habitat for butterflies and other creatures. Ms. Reynolds’ class toured it, caught bees and identified two different species of butterflies and three different species of bees.
Come and see our progress, wander the path in the middle and measure the cherry tree orchard which will produce lots to eat in the years to come!
